Promotions, SEO and courier fixes for an online pet store
For a Bulgarian web agency's own online pet store, we have provided ongoing development since 2022, covering option-level discounts, a promotions page, courier shipping fixes, structured data, SEO and product imports.
Results
- Client confirmed the courier weight fix worked and the category URL fix "works great"
- Client confirmed the structured-data fix looked good
- Repeat work from the same client from 2022 to 2025
The challenge
A Bulgarian web agency runs its own online pet-supplies store. It uses a premium theme together with several purchased extensions for discounts, categories, SEO and courier shipping. The extensions worked on their own but did not fit together. Option-level discounts were not shown clearly to shoppers, shipping weights ignored product options, and the blog and product pages were missing SEO and structured-data details. Since the agency's own developers were busy with client work, it needed a reliable partner to look after the store over the long term.
What we did
- Option discounts and promotions. We customised the store's option-discount module to show struck-through prices and percentage labels, added a single percentage discount field that applies to all options, and showed option price ranges. We also built a promotions page and a homepage tab that list discounted products.
- Coupon rules. We added a coupon setting that excludes products already on discount, so promotions do not stack.
- Courier shipping. We fixed the courier module so parcel weight is calculated from the selected product options, and we investigated a checkout issue in the same module.
- SEO and structured data. We set up SEO-friendly URLs and canonical tags for the blog, added the manufacturer to product names and meta titles in bulk, and extended the schema.org Product markup with category and brand while removing duplicate schema.
- Catalogue import. We imported a product range with images from an external Google Merchant feed in a single run. The products were loaded as disabled so the team could review them before publishing.
- Admin and theme fixes. We corrected category URLs in a purchased module, a blog category error in the theme and the scrolling on the extensions page, and we installed a module manually over FTP.
