Multi-vendor fashion store working alongside a T-shirt design tool

The challenge

An Indian fashion business wanted to run a marketplace for custom T-shirts and apparel, where independent sellers could open shops and list their products alongside the owner's own range. The store was already built on a premium multipurpose theme, and the business had chosen a third-party T-shirt design studio so that customers could personalise garments before ordering.

After a round of pre-sale questions, the client bought our multi-seller extension and our per-product shipping module. Both needed to fit a heavily styled custom theme rather than the default one. Indian sellers also had to provide tax registration details when signing up, which the standard registration form did not collect. The bigger risk came later: once the design studio was installed, it and the marketplace both changed the same parts of the store, and products, options and checkout started to break.

What we did

• Installation on a custom theme. We installed the multi-seller and per-product shipping extensions and adapted them to the client's premium theme.
• Seller tax details. We added registration ID / TIN and PAN fields to seller sign-up, the seller's account edit page and the admin's add and edit seller forms.
• Design studio compatibility. We re-customised the multi-seller extension so it works alongside the T-shirt design studio, and fixed the resulting issues: shipping cost display, checkout and login errors, a button issue, product option and download errors, and unapproved sellers' categories appearing in the menu.
• Ongoing fixes. We resolved a registration page error and, in a later round, three category sorting and display bugs.
