Seller tools, pincode checks and size charts for a fashion marketplace

The challenge

An Indian fashion marketplace was preparing to launch a multi-vendor store, with independent sellers listing clothing, footwear and budget ranges under one storefront. The site already had a multi-seller base with a seller panel, but it was missing much of what sellers and shoppers in this market expect.

Sellers needed to manage their own options and attributes, issue proper invoices and receive enquiries from buyers. Shoppers needed to know before checkout whether an item could be delivered to their pincode, and to see a size chart for each product. Shipping also had to work per item rather than per order, because each seller ships separately.

What we did

• Seller panel features. We added seller-only product options, product attributes and product code fields to the seller panel, and built seller invoices that include tax and shipping and can be printed.
• Contact seller. A contact form on the storefront that emails both the seller and the marketplace admin, so enquiries are never lost.
• Delivery and sizing. We installed and configured a pincode availability check, including cash-on-delivery availability, and a size chart extension that sellers can configure for their own products. We also set up per-item shipping.
• Bug fixing. Over several months we worked through long issue lists covering seller image uploads, navigation, payment history, category autocomplete, pagination, manufacturer selection, duplicate addresses, order information and checkout errors.
• Pre-launch testing. After the client's own testing round we fixed the remaining issues, including pincode checks during checkout.
