New-and-used goods marketplace with a redesigned seller panel

For an Indian marketplace selling new and used goods, we installed a multi-vendor platform on a fresh store build and customised the seller experience, from product condition and invoices to a redesigned seller dashboard and editable sign-up pages.

Results

  • Multi-vendor front end, seller panel and admin installed within two days of the client's purchase
  • Product condition (new or used), seller name on invoices and recent orders on the seller dashboard delivered
  • Seller dashboard redesigned and sign-up pages made editable from the admin area
  • Order placement and seller page errors resolved ahead of launch

The challenge

An Indian start-up was building a marketplace where independent sellers could list both new and used goods. Its first site ran on an older version of OpenCart with a premium theme, and the owner asked us to add multi-vendor functionality to it.

We advised against building on the older version and recommended moving to OpenCart 3 for better security and speed. The client agreed, set up a fresh store on the newer version and then needed the marketplace layer installed and shaped around its sellers. Buyers had to see whether an item was new or used, and sellers needed a dashboard and sign-up journey that felt like part of the brand rather than a generic admin screen.

What we did

  • Platform recommendation and set-up. After the client moved to OpenCart 3, we installed our multi-vendor extension within two days of purchase and handed over the storefront, seller panel and admin access.
  • Product condition. We added a new-or-used condition option to products, so buyers know exactly what they are getting.
  • Seller-focused details. The seller's name now appears on order invoices, and each seller's dashboard shows their five most recent orders.
  • Editable sign-up pages. Seller login and registration pages gained background images and six content blocks that the marketplace team can edit from the admin area without code changes.
  • Seller dashboard redesign. We reworked the seller panel with a header colour set from the admin, logo, profile and logout links at the top, and the main menu moved into the header. A new settings tab gives sellers one place to manage their details.
  • Fixes before launch. We resolved order placement errors, an issue with orders not appearing in admin, a seller page error and broken links in seller messages.
