Deposit checkout and post-migration fixes for an agency's store builds

For an Australian web agency, we installed our partial-payment extension on a new store build, made it work with the store's premium theme, corrected order totals after a data import, and repaired SEO URLs on an existing store.

Results

  • Deposit-only checkout option confirmed and extension installed and tested on the agency's server
  • Theme compatibility delivered at no extra charge
  • Order list and dashboard totals corrected after an order import; agency said it looked great (Feb 2022)
  • SEO URL issue fixed on an existing store and the missing-image cause identified (Mar 2022)
  • Repeat work from the same agency

The challenge

An Australian web agency was building a new OpenCart 3 store for a client who wanted customers to pay a percentage deposit at checkout rather than the full amount. The agency bought our Partial Payment Advanced Pro extension, but the new store used the Journal theme alongside other admin tools, and existing orders were being imported directly into the database with MySQL.

Shortly afterwards the agency also asked for help with an existing store it had not built, where SEO-friendly URLs had stopped working and some products appeared without images.

What we did

  • Deposit-only checkout. Before purchase we confirmed that the pay-in-full option can be switched off so every customer pays a percentage deposit, which was the client's requirement.
  • Packaging and installation. When the marketplace download failed, we emailed the agency the OCMOD package directly, then installed and tested it on their server.
  • Theme compatibility. We resolved an admin error that appeared with the Journal theme and made the extension fully compatible with it. Because of the download problem, we did this at no charge.
  • Order import fixes. After the agency imported orders with MySQL, the order list and dashboard showed zero totals. We fixed the totals and explained the extra columns our extension adds to the order table, so future imports would include them.
  • Existing-store troubleshooting. On the second store we took a database backup, fixed the SEO URL problem and traced the missing images to products that simply had no images stored in the database, so the agency knew exactly what content needed adding.
